Fun and Fabulous Moose Facts

Moose are found in Alaska, Canada, and the northern United States from N. Dakota all the way across to Northern New England.
These magnificent creatures are the largest wild animal in North America and can grow to be 7 feet tall and 1500 pounds!
Male moose, known as bulls, have dark brown or black muzzles and only they can grow antlers.
Female moose, or cows, have a light brown complexion and a white patch of fur just beneath their tail.
The word "moose" is derived from an Algonquin Native American term for "eater of twigs".
Moose just love to snack on trees and shrubs, usually maple and aspen and are considered vegetarians, or herbivores.
The best place to spot these fearless beasts are in wet areas, such as swamps, that appear along highways where road salt accumulates.
In the mid 1800's, less than 15 moose were found in NH but now there is approximately 6500 in the state.
Unfortunately, over 200 moose are killed on NH state highways each and every year.
Moose have a life expectancy of 8-25 years.

We invite you to unwind in our refreshing 50 foot outdoor heated swimming pool as well as our recently-acquired 8 person Jacuzzi, which is open year round. Feel free to take advantage of the gas grills that are located poolside along with the convenient picnic tables and patio furniture. Our convenient in-town location means that you can experience Gorham’s charming shops and exquisite dining establishments just by taking a short, leisurely walk downtown. There are scenic waterfalls and terrific kids’ attractions such as StoryLand, Santa’s Village and Six Gun City that are only 10-20 minutes away, while Mt. Washington, the highest peak in the Northeast, is just 10 minutes from the motel!

72 hour Cancellation Policy:
The MT Madison Motel requires a valid credit card number for any reservation made in advance. If for any reason a guest finds it necessary to make a cancellation less than 72 hours from the arrival date, the cardholder will be charged the full amount of the stay. Large parties, group tours, weddings, etc. must give earlier notification.
